One Earth Film Festival:
A Chicago area film festival that creates opportunities for understanding climate change, sustainability, and the power of human involvement through sustainability-themed films and facilitated discussion. The Festival is a production of Green Community Connections. Showings are often held in early March and later for Earth Day in April. There are typically several showings in Lake County throughout the festival.

Earth Day Events:
College of Lake County Earth Month Events: Features an indoor farmers market, presentations by local experts, movies, restoration workdays, and much more. Activities are free and open to the public.

Prairie Wind Family Farm’s Pizza on the Farm Events:
Join Prairie Wind Family Farm for an evening of wood-fired pizzas on the Prairie Crossing Farm in Grayslake. Pizzeria Deville's Chef John Durning brings his wood-burning oven to the farm to create delicious, farm-fresh pizzas for purchase. Bring your picnic, listen to music, and enjoy the sunset on the farm. Farm fresh goodies also available for purchase.

Gleaning at Prairie Wind Family Farm:
Volunteers harvest produce that otherwise would not be harvested from Prairie Wind’s fields. The fresh vegetables are then delivered to local food pantries to feed vulnerable Lake County residents. The program is run in partnership with the Liberty Prairie Foundation.

Lake County Farm Heritage and Harvest Festival:
Farm heritage tractors and displays, live entertainment, animals, kids activities, sheep herding, pumpkin carving demo, beer garden, fun foods, fall plants and decor sale, auction, tractor pulls, and more.

Smart Farm; various classes and events
Smart Farm to Table: Join Smart Farm of Barrington for an evening of great local food, drinks, and music. Proceeds support the organization’s work to donate thousands of pounds of fresh vegetables each season and provide education to the community about the importance of fresh, local food.

Wild Ones Lake-to-Prairie Chapter:
A local group that explores ways to contribute to the idea of restoring and preserving natural habitats. The group hosts several educational events and meetings throughout the year.
